The Boer War also known as the South African War (outside of South Africa), the Anglo-Boer War (among most South Africans) and in Afrikaans as the Anglo-Boereoorlog or Tweede Vryheidsoorlog ("Second War of Liberation"), or the Engelse oorlog (English War) was fought from 11 October 1899 until 31 May 1902, between the British Empire and the two independent Boer republics of the South African Republic (Transvaal Republic) and the Orange Free State.
Very interesting sketchbook from the Boer War, depicting with humour and real artistic talent variuos scenes from that period. Most of the sketches were made and signed by officers, locotenents and other grades from the army.
An important document, both historically and artistically, with works made in different techniques: from painting or watercolours to drawings in ink and pen.
